I’ve been asked many times if I can teach the skills of painting onto cakes so I have finally designed a class to do just that. Up until fairly recently, my personal creativity was mainly paper and textile based, that was until I discovered that I could transfer my art skills to working with cake. I use some of my art teaching methods to bring something a little different to the classes I offer. For example, working with colour and finding inspiration from a variety of sources comes naturally to me but these are skills that can be taught and shared. So as well as the technical skills used in cake decorating I include some of the more art based knowledge such as colour theory which is so important when designing cakes for clients or events.
